Belgian composer Marcel Poot (1901-1988) was a founding member (1925) of "Les Synthetistes", a group of young musicians intent on enlivening the Belgian music scene with contemporary compositions. In the group's periodical, the Belgian Musical Review, he offered music commentaries for many years. Poot won international recognition for his "Joyful Overture" (1934).
